I was glad to find all the necessary serial port connectors arrive with the server, along with 2 network cables - this allowed me to connect everything up and turn the server on in just a couple of minutes, and then immediately get a console using hypertrm (standard connection settings - 9600 8N1). After I watched the diagnostics finish, I saw the system banner (strangely enough it says T200, and not T2000):

In an anticipation of the T1000 arrival, I've started my research of publicly available benchmarks.
Your best starting point is, of course, the Performance Benchmarking commmunity @ OpenSolaris.org. The community page has lots of links to various free benchmarks. Right now, only libMicro is definitely going to be in my benchmarks list, as most other benchmarks presented there require one or ideally multiple network clients. In this view, I'm looking for asking for more advices and suggestions of yours on what and how you can test on a single server (doesn't have to be performance-related). Thanks in advance! Wehey! I've just got a confirmation that Sun will ship me a Sun Fire T1000 server for a free try & buy loan till the end of August!
I've heard about these systems a lot and even saw a few in Sun Microsystems Dublin office, but now I'll have the chance to check all things out myself, and see how multi-core performance really rocks. As many of you know, UltraSPARC T1 processors are based on CoolThreads technology. As soon as I receive the box and have it installed, I'll be sure to post here about the specifications, and will start accepting ideas for experiments. So, if you ever wanted to find more and test a T1000 system, you'll have your chance! :) pS: if you're thinking of ordering a trial server yourself, you can do it from the official FREE 60-day Trial of a SunFire T1000 page.
